Transport Update 2015

The Transport Task Group is just getting started. Wiltshire Council has offered statistical support. The Group welcomes contributions from local people.

The Group is examining other local Neighbourhood Plans to test if they can provide information that might be useful in relation to Melksham and its surrounding villages.

Issues to be explored at the future meetings include (a) funding and the future of the Hopper service to the RUH; (b) public transport; (c) road closures for maintenance; (d) availability of footpaths and cycleways; and (e) frequency and timing of trains and if an increase in size of the platform at Melksham railway station is necessary.

It has been suggested that the Task Group give some consideration of tomorrow’s potentially left-field issues, for example local electric charging points, rickshaws, etc.
